With deep gratitude I want to add this to the countless testimonies which have already helped towards the spreading of the news of salvation. To one who has received such indescribable help, comfort, and joy as I have received through Christian Science, it seems difficult to realize that there can be people yet unaware of the fact that salvation is not a vague term connected with death and "afterlife," but simply the natural result of the genuine seeking for God.

I began to study Christian Science just over two years ago. At that time I had reached a state of nerves bordering almost on insanity. For years I had suffered from an assortment of minor ailments, which seemed just as hard to bear as really serious complaints. An ordinary cold in the head would mean perhaps a week in bed and a fortnight's convalescence. I would have possibly six colds in a year, and I suffered from tonsillitis, laryngitis, and particularly bronchitis, unless I took great care of myself. Severe headaches were common, and rheumatism, indigestion, and frequently just feeling ill for no reason, were difficulties from which I suffered terribly. I took a quantity of medicines, of which I had a vast collection. It was a delightful moment when I threw them all away and decided to rely entirely on God, who has never failed me. Through Christian Science treatment I have been healed of two colds since then, and of a severe attack of influenza, for which I did not even have to go to bed.

I turned to Christian Science quite suddenly, having barely heard of it and never having given it a thought. I was seizerd with the fourth severe cold that winter, and was feeling in absolute despair and very far from God. A friend who is a practitioner came to tell me about Science, and she left me feeling much happier and calmer and less afraid of everything. I began at once to read Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, and my friend gave me help for the cold, with the result that within a few days the cold had entirely disappeared.
