Because I value Christian Science as the most blessed...

Because I value Christian Science as the most blessed and wonderful thing that has come into my life, I give this testimony in the hope of lending encouragement to another. Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." This statement has been proved to me since my coming into Christian Science.

Just prior to the World War, I was in a seemingly helpless condition in a hospital in the South. My husband, being a physician, had made every effort that materia medica could suggest. A death sentence had been pronounced, and I seemed to be growing more helpless every day. My case had been diagnosed as bronchiectasis with complications. Under X ray the lungs showed adhesion, and the heart was badly affected. I had not known what it was to lie down in bed for many months; I was most unhappy and despondent, also full of fear. I continually asked God for help and healing, but He seemed so far off and I understood Him so little that I had not any real assurance that He would help me.

At this time Christian Science came to our notice, and I called for a practitioner. The healing of adhesive lungs was instantaneous. I felt the healing balm, and the proof of the healing power of Christian Science became sacred to me. My complete healing was slow, coming as I did from a family of doctors. (My father and three brothers, besides my husband, were physicians.) I seemed to grasp little of the truth, although from the first I was very faithful in reading Science and Health, together with other authorized Christian Science literature. The awakening finally came, and my healing was manifested rapidly by one discordant condition after the other giving way.

For all these healings I am very grateful. I am indeed grateful for the spiritual regeneration; for the understanding which I am gaining day by day of God's Word, the Bible; and I am so grateful to the practitioners who have helped me on my way, and to Mrs. Eddy for Science and Health and for all of her literature, and also for the many provisions she has made for us to grow in the light. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and also in a branch church, and for class instruction. I am endeavoring to express this gratitude in greater love to God and man.
