For twenty years I have been a student of Christian Science; and it would be difficult to know where to begin to attempt to tell of all the healings I have experienced since taking up this study. Nevertheless, there are two outstanding ones of which I should like to tell briefly.

When I was quite a young man there had developed what doctors call a mitral regurgitation or leaky heart valve. This troubled me somewhat in athletics, and grew worse as I advanced in years—as is the medical theory regarding this disease. When I took a physical examination for entrance to the army at the time of the World War, the physicians pronounced the condition quite bad, but allowed me to pass, inasmuch as I was serving in the medical department. Again, when I was taking examination for overseas service, the doctors noted the same trouble and termed it quite serious.

After my discharge from the army, at the close of the war, I took up the study of Christian Science with renewed earnestness, and can say that I totally forgot about this organic difficulty, until about four years ago, when I was obliged to undergo another physical examination relative to veterans' insurance. While the physician was examining my chest organs, and was about to pass the examination of the heart without making any comment, I asked him if he had found a regurgitation. He said he had not, and checked over his findings again to make sure. Then I told him of the findings of the physicians when I had joined the service. He said: "Ridiculous! If there had ever been a regurgitation there, it would be much more marked after these years. You haven't a sign of heart trouble."
