Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

During the past year there was but one reference to Christian Science in the secular press which called for attention. In this case a letter in the Evening Mail incidentally classified Christian Scientists with Mohammedans and Buddhists. A letter of correction and of brief explanation of Christian Science was sent by me to the editor and duly published.

Excerpts from our weekly Lesson-Sermon have appeared regularly throughout the year in the Evening Mail. Both the Evening Mail and the Irish Times gave short reports of the lectures.

In March of this year, on learning that a clergyman of the Church of Ireland was to preach a sermon on "Divine Healing and Christian Science," I wrote him offering him some of our literature and also a loan of our textbook. I received a very courteous and kindly reply, stating that he already had a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and that he would take every care to put the subject of his sermon justly and avoid the saying of anything that might offend. I then sent him on loan a copy of Dr. Powell's life of our Leader. I learned later that in his sermon he gave Christian Science credit for teaching people how to think rightly, and admitted its healing benefits.
