My first physical healing in Christian Science was of...
My first physical healing in Christian Science was of arthritis, from which I had suffered for some years and for which I went yearly to different spas, finding only temporary relief. Then came the healing of attacks of violent nausea, which had kept me prostrate with exhaustion for several days. Many doctors had prescribed various remedies, but nothing was of any avail, and great fear was manifested, as the symptoms seemed to indicate some serious cause. During the last and most severe attacks I was having help from a Christian Science practitioner. I realized that fear and resentment were filling my consciousness, but that I had only to turn my thoughts to God and to know that "underneath are the everlasting arms." A great sense of trust and gratitude took the place of fear, and I was completely healed and have never had another attack.
I have experienced the healing of a broken ankle which was so completely smashed that in the opinion of surgeons, who were called in for consultation by relatives who are not Christian Scientists, it was doubtful if I should ever walk again. After a comparatively short time I could walk with little discomfort, and in a few months I walked normally and felt no ill effects whatever.
More recently I have been healed of a very distressing skin trouble. According to materia medica there is no certain remedy for this disease. The case was most stubborn, and it was some time before the healing was accomplished.
