[Original testimony in French]
It is with a heart full of joy and with sincere gratitude...
It is with a heart full of joy and with sincere gratitude that I wish to tell of a remarkable healing which I had the happiness of receiving through Christian Science.
In 1916, following a bad case of grippe, I was afflicted with emphysema, and as a result became asthmatic. From 1917 on I suffered terribly day and night. The slightest effort brought on severe attacks of asthma, and with anxiety I saw the time approach when, in an acute attack, it would no longer seem possible for me to breathe. I had to spend the nights sitting up in bed and slept in this position with an average of four or five attacks during the night. This lasted for fifteen years. During these trying years I consulted many doctors, took medicine, and resorted to thermal cures, but nothing gave me relief except a small respiratory apparatus, which quieted me for a time. The doctors had decided that these asthmatic spells were incurable.
I endured these terrible years painfully and with resignation, until God came to my aid. My daughter, who was in Australia, had become a student of Christian Science after being healed by it, and she wrote me about this Science. When she returned to France she told me how she had been healed. Never having heard of Christian Science, I attached no importance to it, although my daughter assured me that I could be healed; but I would not believe it. Finally after a month I began to read articles and testimonies of healing in the Herald. Then I started to read the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
