I can never begin to express my gratitude for all the...
I can never begin to express my gratitude for all the blessings I have received through the study and application of Christian Science during the past twelve years. It has been my comfort and guide through many trials and sorrows, and has met my every need when rightly applied, and when I have been willing to receive the good that divine Love is constantly pouring out to all His children.
I had been very strictly brought up in an orthodox church and had been active in church work from the time I was a child. I thought that I loved God and sincerely tried to do what seemed to me the right thing at all times; but as I grew older I became dissatisfied and longed for something, I knew not what. Church attendance became an empty form, and after my marriage I stopped going to church almost entirely. I had suffered from bronchial asthma for fifteen years and could get no relief. Medicine and osteopathy gave me only temporary relief, and I had never had much faith in doctors. After the birth of a son I was weak and nervous, and the child cried a great deal. My sister, who was living with us, was studying Christian Science, and persuaded me to call a practitioner for help for both myself and the baby. The child stopped his incessant crying and became much more happy, contented, and well. At the time of his healing, he was about two months ole. I felt better for a while, but read Science and Health only spasmodically, and did not seem able to apply the truth, although I knew that many people had been healed through Christian Science, as my grandmother had been a practitioner for many years. Finally, I had a severe attack of asthma which confined me to my bed for a week. A practitioner had been called on a Friday and worked faithfully for me. On Monday morning I was able to take a previously planned three-hundred-mile automobile trip, with no ill effects. I had realized the nothingness of the error!
Our second baby was born under Christian Science treatment, and the birth was very harmonious, due to the power of Truth and the faithful work of a practitioner.
