Now

A startling message was given to the world when Jesus began preaching the gospel, saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand." This may seem even more startling when we look at conditions that prevailed in the land where the gospel was preached. Discord, strife, oppression, want, woe, disease, and death seemed to abound. Yet Christ Jesus not only preached this gospel himself, but sent out disciples and told them to do likewise, and to prove true the message by healing the sick, cleansing the lepers, raising the dead, and casting out devils.

In our day Christian Science is preaching the same good tidings, and its adherents are learning to prove its teaching in the way Jesus commanded. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, has written in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (pp. 470, 471), "The relations of God and man, divine Principle and idea, are indestructible in Science; and Science knows no lapse from nor return to harmony, but holds the divine order or spiritual law, in which God and all that He creates are perfect and eternal, to have remained unchanged in its eternal history."

From a careful study of Christian Science we find that it is based absolutely on the teachings of Christ Jesus, and that both are founded on the supremacy of God. Since God is omnipotent, that is, All-power, there can be no power opposed to Him, because there cannot be more than All. Since God is the only power, He must also be the only creator, because if there were another creative force creating in opposition to God, or concurrently with God, then God would not be the only power. Since God is the only creator, all creation is absolutely good, and there can be no evil.
