My homage first of all goes to divine Love, who heals all our diseases, and my undying gratitude goes to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who has so unselfishly given to the world the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."

Sixteen years ago, when my health broke down completely and I was unable to do the slightest work about the house without great pain, due to dropsy in its last stages, plus diabetes, our family physician called in a specialist. After a thorough examination, the verdict was given to my husband that my days were numbered and according to their knowledge of Science and medicine nothing more could help me, as my case was too far advanced. I overheard the latter part of their conversation, and in my deep anguish I humbly asked God to help me, cure me, and guide me, in this extremity.

Shortly after this a waitress who worked in our store and who was a Christian Scientist, came up to my room and asked me to take up this Science, as she knew it would heal me. I said that I was too old to change my religion. She replied that Christian Science would teach me to know God aright and understand religion better. As this appeared to me to be logical, and as I believed I had reached the end of my life, I decided to try Christian Science treatment. I relied entirely upon it and in a few months I was completely healed of all my diseases.
