In regard to the report in your paper for last Wednesday...

In regard to the report in your paper for last Wednesday of a lecture given by a professor at a meeting of the medical society, I should be very much obliged if you would grant space for the following:

From the report it is evident that this professor puts Christian Science on par with suggestion. This implies a misapprehension of Christian Science and of its teachings, which are utterly opposed to the method of mental suggestion. On the contrary, Christian Science is at work to free mankind from the suggestions which bind them through material laws.

The lecturer's assertion that in serious cases one cannot be healed through faith has been refuted. The ranks of Christian Science are recruited mostly of people who have not been able to find relief for their ills except through faith in and understanding of God as taught in Christian Science. Christian Science gives not a more or less vague hope, but a firm conviction or understanding that "with God all things are possible," and that this is as provable as the laws of mathematics.
