I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science

I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science. I have been interested in this Science for only about nine years, but it is completely regenerating my life. During the year I was studying for church membership I was healed of a facial paralysis which I had had since birth, and which had distorted my face and completely disorganized the nervous system. bringing with it neuralgia, oversensitized nerves, and poor circulation; mentally I was almost a wreck. I had harbored hatred, self-pity, and unbelief in God for many years. During this year I studied all of Mrs. Eddy's writings, and the truth about God and man and their relationship obliterated these erroneous qualities of thought. I did not become interested in Christian Science for physical healing; I wanted to find something that was logical and that would give me peace of mind. During that year I was also healed of hay fever, which had bothered me for fifteen years. I was not conscious of the time when these troubles left me; I only knew that they disappeared, never to return.

Since that year, 1930, Christian Science has met all my needs. I ran a machine needle through a finger and nail on a Monday, but continued with my sewing. I did not look at the finger, but covered it with a small bandage, so that no one would remark about the wound. On Wednesday evening I gave a testimony of gratitude for the healing, and after the service, in showing the finger to friends, there was not even a discoloration of the nail. Some years previous to this, after a similar experience, my hand and arm were painful for weeks, and eventually the nail came off. Recently my husband and I had instantaneous healings of influenza, after we asked for help from a practitioner. When my father passed on, I learned the true meaning of God as our Father-Mother, Life. I have surely realized that our Leader in her writings gives us truths which, when applied, heal any seeming discordant condition, whether it be physical, mental, or financial. Words are inadequate to express the humble gratitude I feel for Christian Science.

I am very grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for the privilege of serving in the latter's activities. My aim is to become clearer in my thinking, so that I can truly be a Christian Scientist. I am also grateful for the varied activities of the movement, the lectures, and the periodicals.
