I am happy to tell of a healing I had in 1933 through the sincere application of Mrs. Eddy's teachings in Science and Health and through class instruction in Christian Science, for which I am very grateful.
Early in the summer I was seized with great pain in the back, hip, and knee, which made it impossible for me to walk straight or hardly at all. As this condition was not diagnosed by a physician it would be difficult for me to say just what it would be called. Some said it was a severe case of neuritis, and others claimed it to be chronic sciatica. At times it seemed as though one of my limbs had been elongated, because one hip seemed considerably dislocated. Christian Science proved this to be an illusion, for now my stature is entirely normal and I can walk as before, in comfort. The statement our Leader makes on pages 243 and 244 of her textbook was a great help to me through this trial: "Inasmuch as God is good and the fount of all being, He does not produce moral or physical deformity; therefore such deformity is not real, but is illusion, the mirage of error." It was a glorious thing for me to acknowledge the all-power of God, good, as Christian Science teaches, and after several months to see this power revealed through the disappearance of these ills of the flesh.
I should also like to tell of a healing of blood poisoning which took place in our home. One of my husband's hands became infected about two years ago. He was unable to use it for about two months, but finally the poisonous secretions were entirely eliminated in a painless process. Nothing but Christian Science treatment was applied, and it was a great joy at that time to prove the truth of the words (Science and Health, p. 393), "Mind is the master of the corporeal senses, and can conquer sickness, sin, and death."
