The Sinless Self

Offspring of Soul, that knows no mortal sense,
Radiant with light, ineffable, divine,
Clad in the might of God's omnipotence,
Piercing the mist of mortal selfhood, shine!

Shine on this world where sin and sickness claim
There is no God, and man ends in the tomb;
Shine so that we may understand His name,
Love, making our sad wilderness to bloom!

Shine and dispel the dross of sin's alloy,
Leaving no trace of man sprung from the sod;
Then in the bright effulgence of His joy
We see the sinless self bestowed by God.
