I am so happy and thankful to Christian Science and...
I am so happy and thankful to Christian Science and Mrs. Eddy for giving me a better understanding of my heavenly Father and of the living Christ that I feel I must tell about the experience which led me to this wonderful new life.
Always dissatisfied, I had been seeking for something which I knew was to be had but I did not know what it was. A friend lent me a book on philosophy which gave me much to think about and opened my eyes to many things, but I could not understand it all. A short time after this, an Indian gentleman, who was studying machinery in the firm where my husband was, came to stay with us. At first I did not want to have this visitor, but then the thought came to me, Well, let him come; who knows why he has been sent to us? He came, and never shall I be thankful enough to him, for one day he advised me to attend the Christian Science meetings in our town. I attended the Sunday morning service, which was in English. I noticed how carefully and lovingly the Bible and the textbook were read, and what love there seemed to be in this little building, as all the people seemed so pleased to see me. I found courage to ask someone to lend me a textbook. This was done, and I was told that they would all be pleased to see me again.
"What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?" This is how I felt after reading that wonderful book of Mrs. Eddy's. I sought out a practitioner and asked for help. I shall never forget my first visit to her and her loving, ready help. After this visit I was healed of a stomach trouble which I had had for five years. I am thankful to God for this friend, who is also patiently helping me to understand more of God and the Bible. Since beginning my study of Christian Science we have had other healings in our family. My youngest daughter has been healed of nervous movements of the body and of extreme sensitiveness.
