Signs of the Times
[From the News, Winder, Georgia]
"By understanding a house is established." This ... is found in the twenty-fourth chapter of Proverbs. It is absolutely true. There is a great difference between education and understanding. We know many people who are not educated but have great understanding. They have learned the laws of human life. They know the things that destroy. They have established themselves on a firm foundation and they are holding fast to that foundation. They keep their feet on the ground. They stand fast on the solid earth. They know the real value of things. They are not looking for "get-rich-quick" schemes. They grow slowly but surely. They climb one step at a time. They are people of great understanding, whether educated or not.
We need today to understand the issues of life; to be able to separate the grain from the chaff; to know what is good and lasting; to hold to what is good and to eschew the useless and evil.
