Signs of the Times

[Albert F. Gilmore, in The Christian Science Monitor, Boston, Massachusetts]

The purchase from the Soviet of the famous Codex Sinaiticus gives to the British Museum possession of two of the most important manuscripts of the Bible.

This manuscript was found by Professor Tischendorf of Germany in St. Catherine's Monastery on Mt. Sinai in 1859. It is in Greek and contains the Old Testament in almost complete form, most of the Apocrypha, the New Testament entire and the epistle of Barnabas and the Shepherd of Hermas.
