My first healing came through reading the Christian Science...
My first healing came through reading the Christian Science textbook. Ever since childhood I had suffered from constipation, and material remedies had failed to give permanent relief. When Science and Health was placed in my hands I had no thought of being healed, but I was much impressed with the beautiful truths therein, and felt that I had found something for which I had always been searching, namely, a God of love. After several weeks I awoke to the fact that I was healed. That was over twenty years ago, and I have never had a return of the ailment. Since that time I have had many other healings.
About ten years ago I had erysipelas in its worst form, but, through the work of a faithful practitioner, this was completely overcome. At another time, when there seemed to be an epidemic of influenza, I was taken very ill with all the accompanying symptoms of this malady. A practitioner was called, and after two days the healing came. At about four o'clock in the afternoon I arose, dressed myself, and went for a long ride into the country.
I should also like to tell of the healing of a member of my family of varicose veins and ulcers, when the ulcers had penetrated to the bone. This occurred when we were very young in Science, and after having treatment for several weeks, this dear one became discouraged and thought he would like to have a doctor look at the leg. The practitioner gave her consent. When the doctor, who was an old friend, saw the condition he was much alarmed, but he was also very honest and said, "If you should offer me a thousand dollars. I would not say that I could heal you." This seemed to satisfy the patient; he turned unreservedly to Christian Science and was healed.
