Christian Science and the Reparable Past

God's man, as we learn in Christian Science, can never lose his inherent right to health, harmony, and peace. The assertion concerning anyone, then, that he has had his last opportunity, is a saying of mortal mind which can have no effect on the real man. True selfhood, freedom, and activity are as indestructible as God.

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, on page 595 of her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," gives a definition of "time" as "mortal measurements; limits, in which are summed up all human acts, thoughts, beliefs, opinions, knowledge; matter; error; that which begins before, and continues after, what is termed death, until the mortal disappears and spiritual perfection appears."

From this definition we learn these important facts: God knows neither time nor the so-called history of time. His name is "I AM," a term expressed in the present tense and denoting existence without beginning and without ending. God knows only present being. He knows nothing of a so-called past or future. Truth is always true, just as, according to human standards, the multiplication table is always true. Harmony in music has always existed. Eternity is the never beginning and never ending now, and there is where man eternally dwells.
