As an item recently appearing in your columns tends to create an erroneous impression as to the attitude of Christian Scientists towards the world's financial distress, no doubt your readers will be interested in an explanation.

While it is true that Christian Scientists are not given to discussing difficulties unnecessarily, this does not mean that they are insensible to them, or that they ignore them. They deal with human discords practically; and it should be thoroughly understood that it is not the teaching of Christian Science that merely refusing to "see" and "talk" depression will do away with it.

The rule that Christian Scientists apply to financial and business problems is found in the sixth chapter of Matthew, namely, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Students of Christian Science know that if this scientific precept is understandingly applied, the human need will be met thereby.
