I am grateful for the healings and blessings which I have experienced through Christian Science.

In the year 1927 I become very ill with typhus fever, and a large abscess on the liver made an operation necessary. The case was said by the physician and nurses to be hopeless, because such diseases of the liver were supposed to be incurable, and also because I was very weak. According to the verdict of the doctor I should either die or be a cripple, and the wound would always suppurate.

Dear friends then advised my mother, who nursed me during this illness, to turn to Christian Science, of which we had never heard before. My mother consulted a practitioner, who at once went lovingly to work. At first the healing was slow, but error had to yield, for Truth is victorious and the idea of God can never be destroyed or fettered with disease.

To the astonishment of the doctor and the nurses one day the tubes fell out of the wound. The excretion ceased; the healing had taken place; and after a while I was allowed to leave the hospital. Several times the error tried to return, but it was soon entirely overcome. Today I am healthier than ever before. In operating, two ribs had been removed, but I do not notice this at all. I have often lifted and carried heavy things and have had no bad results.

For these proofs of the love and goodness of God I am sincerely grateful; I am grateful also to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has shown us the way to Truth, happiness, and health; and to the practitioner for her loving and patient help. I am striving to learn more of the truth and of the love of God.—(Miss) Paula Hemmer, Blumenau, Santa Catharina, Brazil, South America.
