Signs of the Times

[Editorial in the News-Herald, Owenton, Kentucky]

Little do so many of us seem to realize that we are living in and surrounded by an innumerable company of invisible but powerful messengers of God. We go rushing madly along, thoughtlessly seeking and slaving for the unsatisfying things of the world, money, power, place, pleasure, all of which things the wise man Solomon called "vanity." Yet the good God has provided this invisible host to guard us against the powers of darkness and against our own selves.

This invisible, this invincible host is ever at hand, ready to protect and to deliver us, to bear us in their hands lest we dash our feet against a stone, and come to disaster. These hosts are ours for a full measure of help and safekeeping, if we but call for them.
