About four years ago I was divinely led to a Christian Science Reading Room. I wanted to know what Christian Science was, and I asked the librarian if she had a book to sell which would tell me very briefly the doctrines and teachings of Christian Science. She lovingly told me that she had no such book, but she lent me the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I read the textbook slowly and thoughtfully, and although I had been ordered by a doctor and a specialist to wear eyeglasses for reading, I found that before I finished reading the book I did not require them, and I have not worn them since.
Christian Science so interested me that I left the church of which I had been a member for a number of years, and began to attend the Christian Science services. I experienced joy and happiness such as I had not previously felt in any church.
My occupation is that of police constable in a large city, and I am on duty at different hours day and night. At the time I took up the study of Christian Science I did not expect to be able to attend all the services, though I wanted to. Truth led the way, obstacles were removed, my hours of duty were changed without my asking, and I was able to attend one service every Sunday and every Wednesday evening testimony meeting for over two years. Since then I have become a member of The Mother Chuch and of a branch church, and I am indeed very grateful.
