Man's Capacity
Since no limit can be placed either on God or on His manifestation, man's capacity as God's reflection is beyond calculation. And because the Christian Scientist is learning to understand God as the infinite cause, with man and the spiritual universe as infinite effect, he no longer estimates his capacity according to material sense or genealogy, but according to God's law of exact reflection of His own being.
Mrs. Eddy's statement on page 89 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "We are all capable of more than we do," is a rebuke to mental apathy. The conscious ability to reflect from his creator unceasing health, intelligence, joy, has never been divorced from man, nor suspended in its expression. True consciousness, God's individual reflection, knows no bondage and no boundary of time, space, or capacity. There is no law for deflection, disobedience, or lack, for Mind's law is everlastingly expressed by man in reflection, obedience, and abundance. Material sense evidence leaves God's creation unperverted.
Christian Science is bringing out in human experience the fact that, as Jesus said, God's will is to "be done in earth, as it is in heaven." Even as the sun cannot cease shining, or its rays their radiation, so God, infinite Mind, perpetuates the reflection of His own characteristics in man and the universe. Man's consciousness consists, in fact, of spiritual illumination because it everlastingly emanates from "the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."
