The All-in-all

All the lovely things we love in life
Are only symbols of divine perfection.

The opal beauty of the dawn,
The splendor of the sunset and the night,
The form, the color, movement, scent, and sound—
Which thrill or calm us, as the need may be—
Exist to human sense, in loveliness,
Because the All-in-all is Love.

The joy which comes from sympathy,
From friendship, or a child's confiding touch,
From laughter, wit, the right word rightly placed,
From effort, progress, or accomplishment—
This joy is ours because the Christ is ours;
Because the All-in-all is Mind.
