Of all my many blessings Christian Science is the greatest
Of all my many blessings Christian Science is the greatest. I had a nervous breakdown from which I suffered for nearly two years. During this time I had the best care and attention, tried changes of climate, and was four months in a fine sanitarium. With all this loving care I had only one desire, and that was to leave this world, and so end my misery, as I never expected to be normal again.
About two or three months after I became ill, my sisters begged me to try Christian Science; and after a struggle I consented, but with so much rebellion and so little patience that after a few treatments they let me give it up. On July 9, 1915, about seventeen months after my illness began and two months after my return from the sanitarium, with a feeling akin to despair, I went of my own free will to a Christian Science practitioner. The first treatment helped me so much that I eagerly went the next day for another. After the second treatment the practitioner told me not to come again until three days later, but to get a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and read as much as I could without forcing myself. I can joyfully say that after I commenced reading this book I hardly wanted to put it down. I read it every spare moment I could; and before the day came for the third treatment I realized that I was not only perfectly well but perfectly happy too. Everybody in the neighborhood who knew me began to remark about my changed appearance and actions. That was many years ago, and since then I have had many more convincing proofs that Christian Science reveals the absolute truth, and that there is not a living being who does not need it. Moreover, it is a study that increases one's joy.
I have no words in which to express my gratitude to God for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, but I am striving to prove worthy of the name "Christian Scientist." I am so grateful, too, for our loyal Christian Science practitioners, who are laboring lovingly and unselfishly for the good of all.
