In the interesting article from London in your issue of Friday, entitled "Anglicans Anxious to Stop Drift to Christian Science," a few statements are reported to have been made by a clergyman of the Church of England at the Convocation of Canterbury which call for comment and correction.

It is not difficult to agree with the statement that "there has not been any faith healing which has been so successful in many cases as that which is called Christian Science." It may be explained, however, that Christian Science is much more than faith healing, as usually considered. Christian Science imparts a scientific, exact understanding of God and man; and Christian Scientists are steadily progressing in this understanding, whereby healing is effected.

Our clerical friend is mistaken when he declares, as reported, that "it does not matter what the faith of a person is for mental healing purposes." In Christian Science one's trust, based on enlightened understanding, rests in God; and this trust is essential for Christian healing.
