When I was a very young girl several events occurred...

When I was a very young girl several events occurred which changed the plans I had cherished for my future life, and which made me wonder why God, whom I had thought to be loving and kind, could seem so unheedful of my prayers. As I had never known health and strength, I had become almost resigned to sickness; but unhappiness, disappointments, and a sense of lack set me on the quest for Truth. The orthodox church in which I took an active part did not explain God or Life satisfactorily to me, so I investigated in differing degrees every phase of mortal thought presented to me in the guise of religion, sects, and applied psychology.

In 1925 Christian Science was brought to my attention; but knowing nothing of it I thought little about it for a time, although I firmly believed in the power of prayer to heal. Later I attended the Christian Science services in a branch church intermittently. I purchased the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, but for some months gained little understanding, as I held tenaciously to certain beliefs. At last I was confronted by a problem which caused me much distress from a sense of human sympathy, and I was led to a practitioner for help. I now began to study earnestly, and experienced the healing desired.

Through the work of this practitioner I have been healed of pneumonia in two days; of colds and neuritis; and business difficulties and discord in the home have been overcome. With the deepening of my understanding of Christian Science I am joyous in demonstrating the truth in my daily life and in the solving of various problems. As thought is lifted to apprehend the spiritual, a sense of lack is being overcome.
