When I first came to Christian Science I was very ill
When I first came to Christian Science I was very ill. I had undergone an operation for a physical trouble, but was very miserable afterward. I went to visit a relative; and while there I consulted another physician for liver trouble and took his medicines, but was no better. The cousin whom I was visiting was a Christian Scientist, but I did not know it. A Christian Science practitioner was also visiting at this home, and I talked with her. She asked me if I would like to have God heal me. I said, "Yes." As I had been brought up in a God-fearing home, I had no doubt that God could do everything. Before this I had never heard of Christian Science, so there was no prejudice in my thought to overcome. I just drank in all that was told me. Soon I had many small healings, and one day I was completely healed. The inspiration of divine Love received that day has never left me.
Christian Science has helped me to overcome a quick temper, hatred, resentment, false pride of family, and so forth. It has been a wonderful help in bringing up my daughter. She has been healed of many children's diseases, such as whooping cough, measles, colds, fevers, and also of ivy poisoning, burns, and influenza.
I have been healed of a broken toe, a broken nose, coughs, colds, influenza, and indigestion. I was healed of a very severe case of blood poisoning in my right hand and forearm. The hand was swollen to abnormal size, and the swelling was accompanied by an excruciating sense of pain. The end seemed very near. This feeling was shared by members of the household who were not Christian Scientists. Many around could not see how this condition could be healed; but after faithful work by a loyal practitioner, in about three weeks the error disappeared and I had entire use of my hand and arm. This was my greatest healing in Science in thirteen years, although other ills have been met almost instantly. It has meant so much to me, as, humanly, I am the sole support of my daughter and myself.
