Among the Churches

Current Notes

Savannah Morning News

Savannah, Georgia (First Church).—First Church of Christ, Scientist, has now held its first service in its handsome new edifice at Thirty-first and Whitaker Streets. The occasion was one of rejoicing over the completion of the new building, which has been constructed according to the most approved lines and presents an attractive and comfortable appearance. The Reading Rooms, which have been in the Savannah Bank and Trust Company building, are now in the new structure. The building is designed in the Georgian-colonial style of architecture, the main feature of the planing being an auditorium seating three hundred and fifty people. The rostrum is the only architectural feature of the auditorium. The simplicity of the design of the auditorium throws in contrast the decorative architectural design of the rostrum. The exterior is also designed in Georgian-colonial style, making one general harmonious building. The exterior is brick and stone.—Savannah Morning News.
