Since I have known of Christian Science I have received...
Since I have known of Christian Science I have received a great many blessings. As the result of a chill I had contracted a serious complaint, namely, festering of the thigh bone. The head physician of the hospital spoke about amputating my leg, because the disease was supposed to be hereditary. However, I rejected this proposal. In five months I had recovered so that I could move about with the help of a cane, and since nothing more could be done for me in the hospital I left it. I dragged myself around with this complaint for many years, attending to my work as well as I could; but I was obliged to stay in bed from time to time.
Six years ago I heard of Christian Science. I purchased the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and a copy of Der Herold, and began to study them in order to be freed from this complaint. But my efforts did not meet with complete success, so I asked a Christian Science practitioner for help, which was lovingly given. After a few treatments I was completely healed and discarded the cane and bandages for good.
Some time ago our little son was taken ill with diphtheria, and as we had allowed error to gain too much headway we were obliged to take him to a hospital. The doctor who attended him considered the case very serious and said we ought to be glad if he saved the child. We knew, however, that God was our physician. I consulted the Christian Science practitioner again, and he wished us to take the child out of the hospital as quickly as possible and intrust him to his treatment. Although I found that the boy could hardly see, speak, or walk, I took him home on my own responsibility, and with three Christian Science treatments he was completely healed.
