In a list of events which occurred twenty-five years ago, published in a recent issue of your paper, it is stated that "Mrs. Mary B. G. Eddy tells her followers to stop praying for peace." Since this statement, without reference to the facts concerning Mrs. Eddy's request, would lead to the conclusion that the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science was not an advocate of world peace, I trust that you will be willing to publish the following observations:

In the spring and summer of 1905, Russia and Japan were at war, and at the time of the Annual Meeting of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, held June 13, 1905, Mrs. Eddy sent a message to the members of her church requesting them to "pray each day for the amicable settlement of the war between Russia and Japan."

On June 27, 1905, Mrs. Eddy issued the following message: "I now request that the members of my church cease special prayer for the peace of nations, and cease in full faith that God does not hear our prayers only because of oft speaking, but that He will bless all the inhabitants of the earth, and none can stay His hand nor say unto Him, What doest Thou? Out of His allness He must bless all with His own truth and love."
