Christian Science came into our lives at a time of great...
Christian Science came into our lives at a time of great need—physical, mental, and financial. Both my husband and I had been active workers in an orthodox church, but when the testing time came it seemed as though the religion in which we both trusted so implicitly was but a broken reed.
Dear friends lent us the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and before reading it through the first time I was convinced that I had found the truth, the truth about God, man, and the universe. Needless to say, we were lifted out of the rut of material thinking into the "realm of the real" (Science and Health, p. 277), where righteousness dwells. And in so far as we have been obedient to the law of God, as revealed in Christian Science, we have since proved that His law never fails, that it is always operative, and that it heals.
We have had many physical healings, and for these we are indeed grateful. Our eldest child was healed of pleuropneumonia and inflammatory rheumatism in a few days. A younger son had suffered since birth from constitutional tubercular gland trouble, which had been pronounced incurable by physicians. This took longer to heal, but after a few months it returned to its native nothingness. Chronic colds, broken bones, burns, sprains, severe sick headaches, the need of wearing glasses, nervousness, heart trouble, and many other inharmonious conditions have yielded to the truth, and have been completely healed under Christian Science treatment.
