I wish to express my gratitude for many beautiful healings...
I wish to express my gratitude for many beautiful healings in Christian Science and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her tireless effort to fulfill her holy mission.
Seventeen years ago a kind lady gave my wife a number of copies of the Christian Science Sentinel and a copy of The Christian Science Journal, saying that Christian Science could heal all sickness, disease, or any other discordant conditions. For a number of years prior to this my family and I had been slaves to drugs, and at the time we were using various drugs but without receiving any lasting good from them. Soon after beginning to read the literature my wife began taking treatments from a Christian Science practitioner, and after she had received two or three treatments the drugs were cast out, and we have never used one drop or grain of medicine since. Soon discouragement was banished and harmony prevailed.
I am very grateful for the healing of a violent temper, profanity, the tobacco habit, and various other phases of error. About a year after taking up the study of Christian Science I had an experience that proved God's allness, and that "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." I was working in a furnace room, where a high degree of heat was required, and was making some changes in front of the opening of the furnace when a large slab of carbon broke loose from the top of the furnace, dropped into the molten metal below and splashed the hot metal out on the top of my head. I silently declared the truth; and while my head was badly burned, I experienced not the slightest suffering. A phenomenal occurrence was the instantaneous cooling of the red-hot metal on the top of my head. The physician who examined my head the next day was very much astonished and remarked that it was a wonder my head was not burned off. This healing was perfected in Christian Science.
