The Law of God
It is generally believed that man's life is subject to material laws, and that these laws pertain generally to material sensation, either pleasurable or painful, agreeable or disagreeable. Matter is supposed to be the seat of human activity, life, health, happiness, and strength; also, of inactivity, sickness, suffering, sorrow, weakness, weariness, and death. But when the searchlight of Christian Science is turned on these material beliefs, the false claim of material sense to law is exposed, and in proportion as one puts into practice the law of this Science, the law of God, these errors cease to deceive.
It is revealed in Christian Science that the so-called laws of matter are simply false beliefs of mortal mind, termed by Paul "the carnal mind." The testimony of the material senses Christian Science proves to be false by unfolding spiritual evidence through the operation of the perfect, harmonious law of God.
By utilizing the ever present, ever available law of divine Love, Christ Jesus healed the sick, fed the multitude, walked on the water, conveyed the boat to land immediately, and raised the dead, in direct opposition to the supposititious laws of corporeal sense. Centuries before Jesus' advent Moses and the prophets made good use of the same law when the children of Israel passed through the Red Sea on dry land; when the Shunammite's son was raised from death; when the enemies' armies were defeated, though the material senses testified that the Israelites would be overwhelmed by numbers.
