My gratitude for Christian Science, for what it has done...
My gratitude for Christian Science, for what it has done for me, for what it may do for others, and for what it means to all mankind, prompts this expression. The illumination of the Bible through the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key .0 the Scriptures," by the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, has been a source of great comfort and blessing. Through the study and application of Christian Science I have experienced the healing of grief, sorrow, and deep disappointment. When the world has offered naught but reverses and heartaches, Christian Science has supplied peace and contentment. When bitter experiences would have implanted hate, rancor, resentment, and revenge, Christian Science has supplied only love, confidence, and peace, that peace "which passeth all understanding."
On one occasion in my experience in Christian Science the fear of death was beautifully met and mastered in the case of a loved one when the end seemed but a question of moments. Some time ago, on my way to a Wednesday evening meeting, I fell and fractured the bones in my wrist. The bones were set and healed through the application of Christian Science, without the aid of material remedies of any nature. Many times, when the illusion of lack or want has endeavored to manifest itself, a calm trust in God's omnipotence and loving care has brought supply and peace. On one occasion a member of my family, suffering from an abnormal growth in the throat which had developed to the extent of completely preventing speech, was instantaneously healed through Christian Science, and the growth completely, permanently, and painlessly removed — truly an operation of Mind.
So many healings and blessings have come into my life since I began the study of Christian Science that I am unable adequately to express my gratitude to our beloved Leader for her precious gift to mankind; to the Way-shower, Jesus the Christ; to the patient and loving practitioners who so many times pointed the way when my footsteps faltered. I am also grateful for class instruction and for the joy of the work in the Sunday school.
