I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...
I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done and is doing for me. For forty-two years I suffered greatly with asthma. I tried all the material remedies I heard of, but without receiving any permanent relief. Through the study of Christian Science, together with treatment from a practitioner, I was entirely healed from this complaint, and have now been quite free from it for six years. My gratitude for this freedom is great, but I am even more grateful for the gradual unfoldment of spiritual understanding and for feeling nearer to God.
Christian Science has brought much good into my life and is changing me in many ways. Through it I have learned to love flowers and other beautiful things which I used to pass by unnoticed; I have learned to give more freely and to love doing so. I was also healed of the smoking habit, in which I had indulged for over fifty years. Before I came into Christian Science I scarcely ever read the Bible; now I love to read it, and understand it more and more. I also love reading all Mrs. Eddy's writings it the Christian Science periodicals. At first I did not appreciate The Christian Science Monitor, but through a talk with a practitioner I was awakened to its value and importance and have loved it ever since.
I am striving to live Christian Science in thought, word, and deed, and hope that in this way I may express, in a small measure, my great gratitude to God and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy for having shown us so clearly how to follow in the footsteps of Christ Jesus.—David Waghorn, Monck's Bay, Christchurch, New Zealand.
