Until four years of age I did not know a well day or one...
Until four years of age I did not know a well day or one without medicine. From the time I was six months old the taking of food would often throw me into convulsions. Each year some new difficulty arose. In the first year, and twice in my third year, I had attacks of pneumonia; kidney trouble, which our physician declared would run into Bright's disease, brought on a twitching of the muscles about the nose and eyes; weak lungs and bronchial affection developed into consumption. Then malarial fever set in, and the doctor said I could no longer live in this climate. Every material remedy had failed to relieve the conditions, and when I could no longer take any nourishment, my mother turned to Christian Science for help.
After the first treatment I was able to walk upstairs to my room. At this time adenoids were overcome without any material assistance. While the complete recovery was slow, the improvement was marked and permanent. My mother has said my healing was the most remarkable one she had ever witnessed; and the physician admitted that medicine could not have brought it about. I have had many healings since the foregoing.
I am truly grateful to God, because I know He is good and is Love. I am glad my parents found Christian Science. We are also grateful to Mary Baker Eddy and to the loving practitioners who not only helped us to overcome sickness and sin, but who also directed us to the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, where we obtained a higher understanding of this demonstrable truth. We are now enabled to help ourselves and others in the way Jesus taught.
