I shall always bless a friend who had her copies of The Christian Science Monitor...
I shall always bless a friend who had her copies of The Christian Science Monitor sent to me while she was out of town for a few months. They came at a time when I needed guidance. I had been suffering from the fear of two growths. The physician advised an operation at once. I was filled with fear, fear of having the operation and fear of not having it.
When I returned from the doctor's office I saw the Monitor on the table. I had prayed earnestly to be directed, and I knew that there was a message for me in the Monitor, for I had been guided by its inspiring pages before. I turned to the religious article and the title was "Let it rather be healed." Could divine guidance have been more direct? It was as if a loving Father were speaking to His child. I took this divine message for guidance and telephoned to a Christian Science practitioner at once. We worked together for about two months. First the fear was removed; then the condition disappeared, which had been there for many years and which was originally the result of a bruise.
At another time, five years later, I went to the Bible for guidance and turned to Hebrews 12:13: "And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed." Again I was blessed and healed, and the path before me was made straight. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy are the words (p. 234), "Whatever inspires with wisdom, Truth, or Love—be it song, sermon, or Science—blesses the human family with crumbs of comfort from Christ's table, feeding the hungry and giving living waters to the thirsty."
