Four years ago I underwent an operation, and while in the hospital a friend acquainted me with Christian Science. I was told that I would be in the hospital for three weeks, but received my discharge on the tenth day. A copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was lent to me, and during the next week, while at home, I read it constantly. During this week I received a healing of the tobacco habit. By the end of the week I was healed and ready to take my sample case on Monday morning and follow my daily business as a commercial traveler.
Two months later I laid off glasses which I had worn for seventeen years. The use of obscene language disappeared, and the Christian Science literature became my strength and stay. Sometime later the desire for alcoholic liquor likewise left me, and I am pleased to say that Christian Science has brought an ever unquenchable stream of light, joy, love, and good into our home.
I am grateful for the Lesson-Sermons given in the Christian Science Quarterly and the light received on the Bible through the study of Science and Health. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for the privilege of teaching in a Christian Science Sunday School.
