Some time age I was becoming very much dissatisfied...

Some time age I was becoming very much dissatisfied with the religious teaching of the denomination in which I had for years been a member and worker. Though I loved to study my Bible, I felt that there was far more in the sacred Book than I was getting or knew how to get. I longed for something that would help and satisfy, and deeply desired to understand God better and to be able to apply the Scriptural truths in my daily life. With heartfelt gratitude I can say that Christian Science has gratified my longing and fully answered my desire, for it is teaching me, with growing beauty and fullness, that God is universal, eternal divine Principle, ever active divine Love; therefore always available to meet our every need.

I have had many proofs of God's loving goodness, guidance, and protection; and also of the healing power of Truth. A severe form of influenza, also stomach trouble, neuritis, and extreme nervousness, were quickly overcome through reading and applying the truth contained in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy; but I am more grateful than I can express for the healing of sorrow and loneliness. Soon after commencing the study of Christian Science, I was bereft of my mother, and one month later of my husband. Through worry and grief I was reduced to weakness, and felt desolate, for all that seemed worth living for had gone. But our beloved Leader tells us on page 266 of our textbook, "This seeming vacuum is already filled with divine Love." The little I knew of Christian Science was the gleam of light which revealed to me that divine Science is the Comforter; and this has led me out of the seeming darkness and gloom of sorrow into the light and joy of that happiness which is spiritual, real, and eternal. Now I am well and happy in doing the work of Truth. The joy of overcoming is indeed wonderful, and Love's reward is exceeding abundant, "above all that we ask or think." Divine Love has met my every need for more than seventeen years, and I know always will, according as I live daily in unison with the truths and demands of Christian Science. For the many blessings which have come to me through Christian Science I am truly grateful.—(Mrs.) Annie Birkbeck, Stretford, Manchester, England.
