"Everything in God's universe expresses Him"

The textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, reveals the spiritual truth that heals. Take, for example, but one short, beautiful sentence on page 331: "Everything in God's universe expresses Him."

In Christian Science we learn what the universe of God truly is. We learn that it is spiritual, a realm wholly apart from this so-called material world; that it is the reflection of the infinite Mind, God. The very first words of the inspired Bible state that God made the heaven and the earth; and this true creation of Spirit is entirely without materiality, just as its counterfeit, the material sense of a world, is lacking in all of the enduring qualities which constitute the true creation. This spiritual realm cannot be seen by mortal eye. Only as we look away from what false education has been making us believe is real—a corporeal God, a mortal man, a matter world, sin powerful, disease unavoidable, death inevitable—only as we deny these and recognize them as lies, can we know, as Mrs. Eddy has told us to know, that "all is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error" (Science and Health, p. 468). Only then do we see and understand what constitutes the universe of God.

God's creation is wholly good. In Genesis we are told that "God saw that it was good." A perfect God, as divine Love, immortal Truth, eternal Mind, must everlastingly be, could not make one iota of evil. The climax of the record of creation in that first chapter comes when it is stated, "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."
