My testimony of gratitude to God for Christian Science will show how I was lifted out of earth's cold darkness into the wonderful rays of divine strength and love. On page 342 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy says, "Christian Science awakens the sinner, reclaims the infidel, and raises from the couch of pain the helpless invalid." Students of Christian Science the world over have proved the truth of this statement, and are proving also that Christian Science is a religion of healing. In my own experience I have proved this to be true. About sixteen years ago I was healed of tubercular hemorrhage of the lungs. I had been treated by doctors but my life seemed to be hanging on a thread. I was told by one doctor I had only a short time to live. I then asked a Christian Science practitioner for help, and after the first treatment I felt a sense of hopeful peace take the place of fear. the Bible and the Christian Science textbook became my companions, and one month after the first Christian Science treatment I was back at my work again. After my physical healing the false appetite for tobacco was also destroyed.

For physical healing I am indeed most grateful, but for the spiritual enlightenment, which has revealed to me the truths contained in the Bible, and for the understanding of God, words are inadequate to express my gratitude to God and to Christ Jesus. I am very grateful to our beloved Leader, whose purity and self-sacrificing life enabled her to reveal this blessing to mankind; and grateful to all those who have lovingly helped me along the way.
