[Written for the Sentinel]

"I will be as the dew unto Israel"

When the rose and gold of sunset
Softly fade from out the sky,
Gently falls the dew from heaven
On the earth so parched and dry.

Silently it brings its blessing
Through the quiet hours of night,
And a world of radiant beauty
Shines for us with morning light.

Thus on troubled hearts there falleth
The soft dew of God's dear love,
Bringing strength, and peace, and gladness—
Sweet refreshing from above,

Touching fevered thought with healing,
Making pure and sweet and whole,
Filling with a happy radiance
Every tired, drooping soul.

And we have the Father's promise
That will all our strength renew—
Love's dear presence, all around us,
Will be ever as the dew.
