Royal Gazette and Colonist Daily

Will you kindly allow me to make the following comment on a paragraph in your issue of January 25. It is quite true that Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, was "quite human." Indeed, she was human in the very best sense of this word. It is not true, however, that her attitude toward drugs or doctors changed in the last years of her life, nor is it true that the Directors of the Christian Science Mother Church have denied anything with regard to Mrs. Eddy which should have been admitted. In fact, Mrs. Eddy's attitude toward drugs and doctors was completely consistent with her writings, and all statements by these Directors on this subject have been entirely consistent.

Kindly allow me, also, to express surprise that such a carefully edited newspaper as the Royal Gazette and Colonist Daily has accepted and given currency to a matter which is evidently nothing more than part of a campaign of personal propaganda and resentful war on the part of a former member of the Christian Science church.
