"Unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness...
"Unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings." These beautiful words became a living reality to me when I came into Christian Science. The dawning of the truth in my consciousness brought with it a beautiful, harmonious sense of healing. As a landscape at dawn lies cold, gray, and colorless, till the first faint flush of red begins to grow in the east, gradually suffusing the sky and touching one by one each object on the earth with its warmth and light till the whole sky is illuminated, so it was with my consciousness; and with the enlightenment, these words came to me as clearly as if they had been spoken: This is the truth. Then I thought, If this is the truth I must accept it. I did so before I slept that night, and for the first time in months my sleep was as sweet as that of a child. I awoke to a great sense of joy and harmony; and from that moment, when such discordant conditions as indigestion, insomnia, and all sense of weariness left me, I have had no return of them. This beautiful experience came to me after a talk with a loving Christian Science practitioner, who never lost an opportunity of sowing seed or giving a helping hand where he saw it was needed.
For years I had been struggling under a sense of loneliness, lack of love and understanding, and self-pity, which seemed to hang over me like a cloud till Christian Science came to lift it from me. With this discordant mental condition certain physical conditions were manifested. An operation was finally submitted to, but seemed to leave me just where I was before. A few days after the truth came to me I was reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, when I saw that I had no need to fear either pain or sickness, and the great spiritual help I then received enabled me to rise out of these conditions to a great extent.
I know that I can never express gratitude enough for the loving help I received. It was a revelation to me that anyone should make it his business to help another who needed it as I did. I also received loving and wise guidance from a dear friend when I first came into Christian Science. At that time I did not even possess a Bible, much less read it; but she led me to see new beauties in it, reading and explaining such passages as I could understand.
