When our son was two years of age he met with an accident, breaking both bones below the knee. We had been students of Christian Science for a short time, and much help was received in the overcoming of inflammation and pain. But when, soon afterward, he began to use the leg for standing, it presented a very much bowed and crippled appearance. This condition of the bones caused much fear in our thought. Several months after this we attended a Christian Science lecture. The lecturer proved by clear analytical reasoning that matter is not the solid substance it appears to be. This broke the mesmerism of material sense and destroyed the fear. The injured leg gradually became straight and normal again.

At the same time came a healing of an adult member of the family who had had a similar accident in childhood through which one leg became noticeably bowed and half an inch shorter than the other. This was straightened and lengthened to normal. There was no thought of this latter healing, and we did not realize that it had taken place until measurements were taken for a suit of clothes and it was found unnecessary to provide for the deformity as formerly. This was but a few months after the healing came in thought, thereby lifting it from a material to a spiritual basis.

My heart is filled with gratitude for the Christian Science lectures, as well as all the other avenues that our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, established to bring the truth to humanity. I can say with Paul, "Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift."
