"We shall not solve our remaining problems until we are willing to express gratitude for the good we have already received." The above sentence, used in a Sentinel, caused me to search my consciousness; and I found that I had been waiting for some big, unusual demonstration, before publicly expressing my gratitude for the peace and progress which Christian Science had brought into my life.

Over eleven years ago I began studying Christian Science at a time when sorrow and lack seemed very real. Soon sickness in my family forced me to continue my studies the more earnestly. Looking back over those years now, I can truly say that, as Mrs. Eddy tells us, "trials are proofs of God's care" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 66); for these trials of mine have been overcome by the right thinking and living one learns as a student of Christian Science. I have twice experienced almost painless childbirth, have seen my husband emerge from a long and supposedly hopeless case of arthritis, my children wonderfully protected during epidemics and childhood diseases, and a condition of lack and indebtedness change to one of comfort—through my study of Mrs. Eddy's writings in connection with the Bible. My entire nature is being changed, and faults of character are being uncovered and conquered joyfully.

My heart overflows with gratitude to that good and pure woman, our Leader, who consecrated her life to the finding of exact rules and guides for those who journey toward eternal life. While living in a small western village, I felt especially thankful for the literature which kept me in touch with the progress of Christian Science all over the world; and for the Christian Science Quarterly with the Lesson-Sermons that enabled me to know that I was worshiping God correctly, even though far from a Christian Science church or society. Daily I thank God for Christian Science, which has come to the world, teaching, in the words of Paul, "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."—
