Desiring to express my sincere gratitude for what Christian Science...
Desiring to express my sincere gratitude for what Christian Science has done and is doing for me, as well as for the whole world, I send this testimony, hoping it may encourage and inspire someone as the testimonies in the Journal and Sentinel have helped and encouraged me. I took up the study of Christian Science for the healing of susceptibility to colds, and was instantly relieved from all discomfort and fear of cold air as soon as I realized the meaning of what Mrs. Eddy writes in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 14): "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in norof matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints. If suffering from a belief in sickness, you will find yourself suddenly well." The fear of going blind was overcome about sixteen years ago simply by reading the textbook, and glasses were put away after being worn for over twenty-five years. During the time I was working with regard to the securing of a position, the telephone rang and one was offered to me which I accepted and held for several years, showing that the declaration of truth is "quick, and powerful." Boils on the face were healed by the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner, without my losing any time from the office.
In 1919 I had an attack of influenza in a severe form. Christian Science treatments were given me, and a great improvement was noticed as soon as the mesmerism was broken by clinging to the Lord's Prayer with its spiritual interpretation as given in Science and Health (pp. 16, 17), "the scientific statement of being" (p. 468), and the ninety-first psalm. while most of the effects which often follow did not occur in my case, I did lose control of the muscles of one side of my face and eyelid; but this was overcome in three treatments, and altogether I lost but five days from work. I enjoy membership in The Mother Church and a branch church.—(Miss)Myrtle A. Warrenburg, San Francisco, California.
