The Rand Daily Mail reports that the president of the Wesleyan Conference at Queenstown has stated that "Christian Science eliminates the lordship of Jesus and turns religion into a supreme effort to capture health."
On the first part of that statement I wish to say that Mrs. Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," often speaks of Christ Jesus as our Lord and Master.
As to the question of health, Christian Scientists are finding that Christianity can bestow this blessing on mankind, as was proved by the Saviour. The sufferer needs first, however, to seek a knowledge of God such as Jesus had, though in lesser degree, perhaps, and healing surely follows. But if the search for health is primary and for God secondary, the journey may be a weary one. This is the standpoint of Christian Science; and it will thus be seen that the critical remarks of the clergyman are without justification.
It is noteworthy to-day that in several countries other churches are realizing the necessity and importance of incorporating in their work the healing of the sick.
