I first heard of Christian Science when about ten years...
I first heard of Christian Science when about ten years old. My parents were discussing religious subjects with some friends when my mother said she thought there must be something in a new religion which had lately come to her attention, called Christian Science, because it could heal the sick as Jesus did, without medicine. The words "Christian Science" remained in my consciousness, and the statement that there was a way by which sickness could be healed without medicine made an abiding impression upon me.
For more than fifteen years my mother had been troubled with what physicians called rheumatic iritis. This became worse, until from the medical viewpoint there was no further hope, and it was declared that within a short time she would be totally blind. During this time every remedy recommended by the physicians and specialists was patiently tried; but as none was successful in improving her sight, or even relieving the pain, Christian Science was finally turned to. Happily, this proved to be the right step; for within less than a year, through her study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and the help of a loyal practitioner, my mother's sight was restored. That was more than twenty-five years ago.
During these years I have been healed of severe colds, tonsillitis, grippe, attacks of acute indigestion, influenza, and twice of sprained ankles. That all of these healings have come about through the power of the Word of God there can be no doubt; for with them has ever come a greater desire for purification, reformation, and consecration.
